Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Public Administration, or a closely related profession
  • three years of experience in recreation, sports, leisure class administration, and/or special events
  • one year of lead or supervisory experience preferred
  • valid Arizona Driver's License
  • successful background check
  • ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification upon hire
  • bilingual skills highly desirable
  • Certified Parks and Recreation Professionals preferred

Job Duties

  • Develops, plans, coordinates, and monitors programs, classes, and events
  • hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers
  • monitors allocated budget
  • researches nationally recognized trends
  • develops policies and procedures
  • ensures safety protocol compliance
  • collaborates with other cities and agencies
  • assists in facility management
  • purchases and cares for program equipment
  • supervises staff and contractors for city-wide events
  • attracts sponsors
  • manages logistics and scheduling
  • provides administrative support
  • oversees activities at parks, schools, and facilities
  • recruits and motivates staff
  • coordinates customer service
  • answers inquiries
  • collaborates with schools, non-profits, and departments
  • ensures proper supervision and setup for activities
  • markets and promotes programs
  • creates and disseminates marketing materials
  • maintains class information
  • updates website and social media
  • assists in annual program budgeting
  • forecasts revenues and expenses
  • authorizes payments
  • monitors expenditures
  • evaluates program performance
  • seeks grant opportunities
  • prepares evaluation reports
  • performs on-site inspections
  • ensures compliance with laws and policies
  • manages sponsorship recruitment and relationships
  • coordinates sponsor recognition
  • supports mutually beneficial partnerships
  • performs other duties as assigned
