Job Description

The Parks and Recreation department is a vital and dynamic part of the community, overseeing a wide range of recreational programs, facilities, and events that enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors. This department manages various operations under The REC, Active Adults programs, Athletics, Aquatics, Outdoor Recreation classes and camps, Hospitality Services, Lake Parks, and Community Events. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years or older or have two years full-time equivalent experience as RCA I
  • Physical ability to work outdoors and lift up to 40 pounds
  • Possession or obtainment of CPR certification upon hire
  • Pass federal/national criminal background check
  • Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen
  • Availability to work nights, weekends and some holidays
  • If assigned to hospitality, obtain Food Handlers certification within three months of hire
  • General knowledge of concession and food preparation
  • Ability to operate cash register

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 18 years of age or equivalent two years full-time RCA I experience
  • CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Ability to use computers and perform basic math functions
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work outdoors and lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to lead and work with staff, volunteers, youth, vendors, and customers
  • Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Job Duties

  • Attend to the daily operation of facilities and programs including opening and closing duties and direct RCA I when necessary
  • Assist with various recreation programs, hospitality/concessions, leagues and community events
  • Assist with program registrations including intensive computer processing
  • Assist with program and event setup, teardown, and implementation in varying conditions
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding to customers' questions and needs
  • Perform and oversee general maintenance and housekeeping duties in Parks and Recreation facilities
  • Ensure the safety of spectators and participants and enforce safety protocols
