Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation or a related field or equivalent years’ experience
  • Three years’ experience in various teaching methodologies for ice skating including Ice Skating Institute (ISI), US Figure Skating (USFS), and other skating programs such as USA Hockey
  • Three years’ experience in recreation/programs administration
  • Safe Food Operators License or equivalent within six months of hiring
  • Proficient with computers including Microsoft Office programs
  • Able to physically carry out essential duties
  • Able and willing to work a variety of hours including evenings, weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Plan, develop, administer and evaluate the skate school/learn to skate programs and year-round concession stand
  • Design, coordinate, and evaluate the learn to skate program and associated community skating activities and events
  • Establish cooperative efforts with other agencies
  • Research and implement new trends and techniques within skating programs and concession stand operation
  • Reach out to develop and administer programming to underserved and diverse populations
  • Manage all aspects of year-round concession stand operation and vending machines
  • Provide exceptional customer service in a courteous and helpful manner
  • Ensure program information is kept up to date and publicized as necessary
  • Keep staff updated on schedule changes and provide on-site supervision and act as point of contact during events
  • Perform routine communication with the public
  • Answer inquiries regarding programs, facilities, activities, etc
  • Supervise staff, conduct training, schedule staff, review performance and recruit and hire
  • Perform safety-related activities including implementation of procedures and programs for staff
  • Maintain administrative records relating to expenditures, revenue, supplies, inventory, program registrations and related documentation
  • Complete forms, surveys and other materials to ensure programs are properly identified and registered
  • Write correspondence, reports and draft policies
  • Conduct inventory, maintain accurate records, review revenues and expenditures, make recommendations for fees, assist with budget and perform other administrative work as needed
  • Market recreation programs to customers by assisting with the creation and production of brochures, catalogs, bulletins, posters and online media
  • Work with others to create and distribute marketing materials
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned including working a variety of hours as needed to handle programs, special events and to provide customer service
  • Identify and evaluate vendors and/or consultants on products or services
  • Obtain and review bids, quotes or proposals
  • Recommend selection of vendors for services
  • Maintain cleanliness and longevity of concession stand equipment and make recommendations for upgrades as needed
  • Attain and retain all necessary licensing, permits and inspections required for food operations in the concessions stand
  • Serve as a liaison to community groups as appropriate
