Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in physical education and recreation
  • CPR and first aid certification within 30 days of hire
  • minimum of 4-5 years administrative experience with progressive responsibilities
  • detail-oriented approach
  • ability to work well in a high traffic multiple venue facility
  • flexibility to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • strong customer service experience
  • capability to work collegially with diverse groups

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Researching and planning a variety of activities such as learn to play programs for youth and adults, sports leagues and intramurals, clinics, tournaments and family recreation programs
  • assisting with hockey tournament organization and implementation
  • organizing and scheduling programs and special events from small classes to large community gatherings
  • finding and supporting staff, staff training, supervising and evaluating seasonal staff, volunteers and instructors
  • greeting all participants and their parents or caregivers, explaining rules and adapting activities to suit different needs and skill levels
  • monitoring expenditures, purchasing and maintaining equipment, keeping records of program activities
  • promoting programs through flyers, social media and other channels, responding to public inquiries
  • enforcing safety regulations, administering basic first aid, coordinating with emergency services if necessary
  • collecting and reviewing participant feedback, evaluating program success, developing new ideas
