Job Requirements
- Minimum of 19 years of age
- Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner
- Knowledge of recreational activities, equipment, and safe practices
- Ability to adapt responses to situations while maintaining procedural and regulatory integrity
- Knowledge of the Boys Town Model
- Sufficient mental acuity and physical strength, agility, and endurance to perform all job requirements including stressful situations
- Must be able to push and pull at least 80 pounds of force, lift up to 50 pounds, and carry safely up to 40 pounds
- Must possess sufficient vision, hearing, speech, and mobility to monitor youth and participate in safety procedures
- Ability to work in various environments including educational, gymnasium, pool, outdoor, and potentially stressful or aggressive situations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
- State of NE Pool Operator’s License or equivalent national license (required for some positions)
- Lifeguard certification (required for some positions)
- Recreational, athletic, or supervisory experience preferred
Job Duties
- Assist in providing safety and security for youth during school hours and practice times
- Monitor Field House doors ensuring authorized and safe entry
- Monitor radio communications
- Assist office staff and teachers in verifying student attendance and whereabouts
- Provide support services and requests for teachers during school day
- Supervise youth during appointments, driver’s education courses, or while waiting for transportation
- Provide directions and access for deliveries to the Field House
- Assist visitors including those with appointments to the Athletic Director office
- Lock down Field House during emergencies or drills and communicate with administration
- Conduct sweeps after fire drills as instructed
- Attend scheduled program hours and actively engage with youth and staff
- Assist in developing and implementing skill-building recreational activities
- Maintain accurate program records and assist with athletic events
- Coordinate and set up equipment for programs
- Use the Boys Town Model to teach and monitor behaviors and social skills curriculum
- Perform lifeguard or pool maintenance duties if required
- Serve as a role model reflecting Boys Town values and principles
