Job Duties
- Read production schedules, client orders, work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to move, gather, or distribute
- Transport materials and items from reception or production areas to storage or other designated areas
- Organize and place materials or items on shelves, racks, or containers according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, color, or product code
- Store perishable products in refrigerated chambers
- Fill requisitions, work orders or requests for materials, tools or other items in stock and distribute items to production workers or assembly line
- Gather customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves or transmit to packing or shipping department
- Label materials with identification information
- Open bundles, boxes and other containers
- Record quantities of materials or items received or distributed
- Weigh or count items for distribution within the plant to ensure company standards compliance
- Assist in billing processes
- Organize parts in stock in specified sequences for assembly by other workers by location
- Use computer to enter records
- Prepare work tickets or client specification sheets
- Operate a vehicle to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or pick up items from various locations for shipping
