Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- minimum of one to two years customer service experience
- experience operating multi-line telephone systems
- ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- proficiency in Microsoft Office and telephone systems
- must possess a valid driver's license and acquire a Virginia driver's license within 60 days if applicable
- knowledge of all transit services, routes, transfer points, fares, and company policies
- ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
- flexibility to work varied hours and report during severe weather
- ability to manage multiple priorities with little or no supervision
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- minimum of one to two years customer service experience
- experience with switchboard operation
- strong interpersonal skills
- excellent written and oral communication skills
- ability to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook
- proficiency with Avaya Phone System and ID Card Database
- strong problem-solving skills
- sense of urgency and dedication to customer service
- ethical and able to maintain confidentiality
- valid driver's license
Job Duties
- Operates telephone/switchboard service
- answers internal and external calls
- greets and directs customers
- provides information and assistance regarding telephone numbers and calls
- produces ID cards
- receives Lost and Found and ensures proper accountability and temporary storage
- updates database
- keeps immediate supervisor well informed of activities and problems
- performs general administrative duties as assigned
- responds to serious incidents, crises, and emergencies in accordance with established policies and procedures
- complies with HRT policies
- manages records created and received in compliance with the Hampton Roads Transit Records Management Policies and Procedures
- performs other duties as assigned by management to meet department needs
