- One year experience in a physician's office or hospital/medical environment
- Basic computer and typing skills
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends the English language
- Willing and able to become proficient navigating the hospital's electronic medical record

- Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends the English language
- Willing and able to become proficient navigating the hospital's electronic medical record
- Basic knowledge of medical and insurance terminology preferred
Job Duties
- Greets patients and visitors
- Informs staff when patient arrives for scheduled appointment
- Answers questions, provides information and provides directions to patients, visitors and colleagues
- Answers phone, manages caller needs, takes and relays messages
- Recognizes priorities and communicates in a timely manner
- Checks and manages voicemails
- Directs calls to appropriate resources
- Informs staff of patient's disposition or cancellation status
- Seeks out information as requested by staff to facilitate patient management
- Orders office supplies
- Assembles new patient charts
- ensures essential documents are available for first appointment
- Ensures front desk has necessary supplies
- printers are properly stocked
- Attends staff meetings
- facilitates completion of sign-in sheet
- files staff meeting documents
- Collects co-payments
- Prints daily outpatient schedule
- Disposes outpatients in the electronic medical record
- Documents patient intake/referral details on appropriate form
- Schedules and re-schedules outpatients as appropriate
