Job Requirements

  • high school graduate or equivalent
  • 0-2 years of medical receptionist experience
  • 0-2 years of patient billing experience
  • computer literacy with scheduling and medical records software
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment

  • high school graduate or equivalent
  • computer literacy, especially with scheduling and medical records software

Job Duties

  • Greet patients and new registrants
  • generate encounter forms for new registrants, patients, and walk-ins
  • code and close all visits and services
  • manage and collect co-payments and self-payments
  • generate receipts and reconcile cash receipts
  • verify registration and billing information of patients, including managed care insurance referrals
  • schedule patient appointments and manage provider clinic schedules
  • reschedule missed appointments
  • maintain patient demographics
  • answer telephone professionally and direct calls
  • mail copies of medical records to appropriate departments
  • create medical records for new clients
  • provide patient rights and advanced directive information
  • complete managed care and Medicaid transportation logs
  • send consult reports to referring providers timely
  • verify patient identification at each encounter
  • maintain reception area cleanliness and supplies
  • support quality improvement and risk management activities
  • demonstrate computer proficiency for data entry and appointment scheduling
  • ensure patient confidentiality
  • provide courteous service to clients in person and by telephone
  • remain flexible and cooperative with staff and patients
