Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • minimum one year clerical experience or completed secretarial science program
  • ability to interact tactfully with diverse groups
  • knowledge of administrative procedures
  • ability to follow instructions
  • typing speed of at least 35 words per minute
  • proficiency with word processing
  • ability to use a 10-key calculator
  • basic computer skills including data management
  • successful completion of background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • at least one year experience in a clerical position or successful completion of a secretarial science program
  • ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the public
  • knowledge of administrative practices, procedures, and guidelines
  • ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • ability to type at least 35 words per minute and operate a word processor
  • ability to use a 10-key calculator effectively
  • working knowledge of computers and data input/output/retrieval

Job Duties

  • Receive and follow reception schedule instructions from supervisor
  • operate paging and telephone system as required
  • answer telephones and direct calls to appropriate individuals or departments
  • receive requests within the facility and locate personnel through paging system
  • respond to inquiries and release information according to established policies
  • maintain current files of residents by name and room number and critical personnel contacts
  • maintain listings of residents who may not receive phone calls due to their condition and coordinate with nursing staff accordingly
