Job Description

The District Office is a central administrative hub responsible for coordinating a variety of clerical and reception functions that support the smooth operation of the District's numerous programs and departments. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of relevant receptionist or office clerical experience
  • Experience working in a school setting or with children strongly preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Satisfactory score on the District’s clerical screening examination
  • Typing speed of not less than forty words per minute with current certificate within one year
  • Resume
  • High school diploma or GED copy
  • Typing certificate dated within one year
  • District clerical screening test
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions while multitasking
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately
  • Ability to interact with diverse customers positively

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of relevant receptionist or office clerical experience
  • Experience working in a school setting or with children strongly preferred
  • General working knowledge of office and clerical procedures and equipment including computers, word processing, and switchboard
  • Working knowledge of policies, procedures, and schedules for handling visitors and support staff
  • Sufficient human relations skills to interact positively with a wide range of contacts
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately in an open, interruption-prone environment
  • Ability to prepare correspondence using personal computer word processing
  • Sensitivity to customers of diverse backgrounds and roles
  • Sufficient math skills to compute sums, products, quotients, and percents

Job Duties

  • Receives and screens telephone calls and inquiries, providing information and/or referring callers to appropriate individuals and/or work teams for response
  • Takes and delivers messages and routes calls to the appropriate department or staff member
  • Receives, greets and directs visitors as appropriate, notifying departmental contacts and/or directing the visitor to the appropriate office or locale
  • Provides a variety of routine information about the District and its programs to staff, students, parents and the general public
  • Maintains up-to-date phone numbers and extensions for departments, programs, sites, and individual staff members
  • Provides clerical and general office support duties such as filing, matching and classifying documents, data entry, and assembling materials for meetings, conferences, and mailings
  • Assists in administering an auto-dial substitute management system, contacting substitutes and giving direction to school sites or the District office
  • Receives and distributes employment forms and forwards materials to Human Resources
  • Receives, signs for, and routes deliveries to the appropriate individual or department
  • Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position
