Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • one to three months medical office experience preferred
  • proficiency in basic computer skills and MS Office Suite
  • ability to maintain patient confidentiality following HIPAA regulations
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to read, write, and interpret documents
  • problem-solving and reasoning abilities
  • physical ability to sit, stand, and walk as needed
  • ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • adherence to safety sensitive position requirements
  • availability to work under stressful conditions and meet deadlines

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • one to three months medical office experience preferred
  • proficient in EMR software preferred
  • effective communication skills with patients, caregivers, and medical staff
  • ability to read and interpret safety and procedural documents
  • capable of writing reports and correspondence
  • ability to present information and respond to questions
  • problem-solving skills and logical reasoning
  • proficient computer skills including MS Office Suite
  • ability to maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA
  • ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • when serving as an interpreter, proficiency in English and Spanish and medical terminology
  • completion of medical interpretation course for interpreter roles

Job Duties

  • Embody Highlands Oncology mission statement by prioritizing patient safety and experience
  • manage scheduling, invoicing, and billing
  • provide exceptional customer service in person and via phone
  • greet patients and introduce them to the center
  • ensure patient check-out and schedule next appointment
  • introduce patients and visitors to appropriate personnel
  • conduct confirmation calls for appointments
  • assist in obtaining information for medical forms
  • communicate effectively with nursing staff to meet patient expectations
  • prepare new patient chart packets
  • maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
  • ensure security and safety of patient records
  • monitor proper handling of patient and clinical records
  • organize and prepare correspondence and filing
  • review clerical and billing records for accuracy
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of reception area
  • perform opening and closing duties as directed
