Job Requirements
- high school diploma or GED equivalent
- minimum one year clerical experience or completed secretarial science program
- tactful communication skills with personnel and public
- familiarity with administrative practices and procedures
- ability to follow instructions
- typing proficiency of at least 35 words per minute
- ability to use word processor and 10-key calculator
- working knowledge of computer data systems
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or GED equivalent
- at least one year experience in a clerical position or completion of secretarial science program from an accredited school or college
- ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public
- knowledgeable of administrative practices, procedures, and guidelines
- ability to follow written and oral instructions
- typing speed of at least 35 words per minute and ability to operate a word processor
- ability to effectively use a 10-key calculator
- working knowledge of computers, data input/output/retrieval
Job Duties
- receive and follow reception schedule/instructions from supervisor and established policies
- operate paging/telephone system as required
- answer telephones, determine nature of calls, and direct callers to appropriate individuals or departments
- receive inquiries and release information according to policies and procedures
- maintain current file/listing of residents by name and room number, emergency phone numbers of on-call personnel, department extensions, key personnel
- maintain current listing of critical residents or those restricted from phone calls, referring calls as necessary to Nurse Supervisor or Charge Nurse
