Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • minimum one year clerical experience or completed secretarial science program
  • tactful communication skills with personnel and public
  • familiarity with administrative practices and procedures
  • ability to follow instructions
  • typing proficiency of at least 35 words per minute
  • ability to use word processor and 10-key calculator
  • working knowledge of computer data systems

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • at least one year experience in a clerical position or completion of secretarial science program from an accredited school or college
  • ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public
  • knowledgeable of administrative practices, procedures, and guidelines
  • ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • typing speed of at least 35 words per minute and ability to operate a word processor
  • ability to effectively use a 10-key calculator
  • working knowledge of computers, data input/output/retrieval

Job Duties

  • receive and follow reception schedule/instructions from supervisor and established policies
  • operate paging/telephone system as required
  • answer telephones, determine nature of calls, and direct callers to appropriate individuals or departments
  • receive inquiries and release information according to policies and procedures
  • maintain current file/listing of residents by name and room number, emergency phone numbers of on-call personnel, department extensions, key personnel
  • maintain current listing of critical residents or those restricted from phone calls, referring calls as necessary to Nurse Supervisor or Charge Nurse
