Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • minimum of one year clerical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • proficiency in typing with speed and accuracy
  • working knowledge of standard office equipment including telephone, computer, printer, fax, copier, and calculator
  • strong communication skills including grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • ability to read and interpret county maps
  • ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • ability to maintain confidentiality of records
  • ability to handle challenging public interactions professionally
  • adherence to attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct policies
  • ability to multitask and manage assignments amidst distractions

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Answer telephone and handle disgruntled people professionally
  • greet office visitors and provide information or direct to appropriate individuals
  • enter engineering plans, drainage calculations, permits, bonds, and submittals into Posse system
  • receive and balance fees for permits, maps, copies, and ABC permits
  • conduct research through Minutes Book and drain files
  • scan documents and attach them to appropriate jobs
  • assist in proofreading drain reconstruction bills and preparing notices
  • assist the public by making copies, completing forms, answering questions about drainage assessments and hearings, and researching information
  • complete inspection work orders for drainage problems
  • enter data on computer and type, copy, file, and distribute documents
  • pick up and distribute department mail
  • periodically perform duties of other clerical personnel including taking minutes for various boards and committees
  • perform related duties as assigned
