Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Some college preferred
  • One year general office experience
  • Excellent computer skills required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Excellent phone skills
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Reliable transportation and current auto insurance
  • Current driver’s license

  • Excellent computer skills required, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Excellent phone skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to read and write using English language
  • Must demonstrate excellent telephone communication skills
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Software proficiencies: internet, Excel, Word processing software, and database programs
  • Demonstrates general office skills such as use of copy machine
  • Must demonstrate a warm, outgoing personality and behavior
  • Must demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population
  • Interacts with guests, patients and staff in a courteous and friendly manner
  • Responds promptly to patient and visitor needs
  • Responds to requests for service and assistance
  • Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time

Job Duties

  • Promotes the philosophy, mission and administrative policy of the Hospice line of business by presenting a positive image
  • Facilitates the communications system which may include mail distribution, phone system, memos, answering incoming calls and/or emails, documents, and disseminates appropriate messages
  • Provides clerical support which may include preparation of admission, orientation, and new hire packets
  • monitoring and ordering office supplies and forms
  • computer support and data entry
  • special projects, filing and copying
  • Competently handle multi-line phone systems
  • Demonstrates understanding of systems features
  • Uses effective customer service skills when directing calls and assisting others
  • Promotes effective communication with patients, families, team members and other healthcare professionals, and maintains confidentiality
  • Performs other duties as assigned
