Job Requirements
- High school graduate or GED
- one year medical experience working in a physician's office or equivalent combination of training and experience preferred
- ability to tolerate sitting and desk work for 8 hours
- proficiency with computer keyboard (30 WPM minimum)
- ability to work effectively with Microsoft Office
- full range of body motion for physical tasks
- manual dexterity for office and medical equipment
- normal hearing and vision as required
- valid driver's license and good driving record
- ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- ability to work independently and in a team setting
- willingness to work at other office locations and occasional travel
- ability to work under pressure and handle diverse populations in clinical environment
- willingness to follow office policies and procedures
- strong customer service skills and professional communication
- ability to handle emergency situations and complaints diplomatically.
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- proficiency in computer keyboard operations (minimum 30 WPM)
- ability to work effectively with Microsoft Office products
- full range of body motion including ability to push, pull, reach, bend, stand, stoop, stretch, lift, and carry up to 20 pounds
- manual dexterity for operating keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and medical equipment
- normal range of hearing and eyesight including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus
- valid driver's license with good driving record
- tolerance for sitting and working at a desk for up to 8 hours daily
- ability to maintain strict confidentiality

- knowledge of dermatology practice preferred but not required.
Job Duties
- Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting them in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries
- notes patient arrival in Practice Management System (eClinical Works)
- identifies patients by date of birth and name and creates new accounts if necessary
- prepares encounter forms prior to appointments
- calls no-show patients to reschedule and makes appropriate system notations
- schedules appointments in person or by telephone to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization
- helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies
- reviews and updates patient information in the Practice Management System using proper English grammar, spelling, and syntax
- identifies payer sources, verifies insurance eligibility and financial status, and assigns correct payer types
- verifies prior authorizations needed from insurance and notifies Billing Department
- keeps reception area clean and organized
- records and collects patient copays and balances at check-in/out
- manages office inventory and equipment by monitoring supplies and placing orders
- cross-trains and works in the call center as needed
- maintains patient confidentiality
- follows office policies and procedures and reports changes
- contributes to team efforts and demonstrates superior customer service skills
- answers the telephone in a timely and polite manner
- communicates professionally and courteously with customers
- effectively uses EMR systems to document patient records
- maintains a professional appearance and communication style
- listens attentively and problem-solves effectively
- works independently and in teams with high integrity and good judgment
- handles complaints diplomatically and performs other related duties as assigned.
