Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- current Basic Life Support (BLS) with CPR certification required for first day
- minimum one year experience in medical office preferred
- experience in appointment scheduling
- ability to use routine office equipment including phone and copier
- good typing skills and computer knowledge
- ability to count money and make change
- excellent customer service skills
- ability to work in a multitasked environment
- ability to read and write effectively
- physical ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
- fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as mandated
- infrequent local travel
- ability to maintain confidentiality
- availability to cover holidays and extended hours
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification including CPR skills
- at least one year experience in a medical office preferred
- experience with appointment scheduling
- experience in data entry
- knowledge of insurance billing
- good typing skills and computer proficiency
- ability to use routine office equipment
- ability to count money and reconcile collections
- excellent public relations skills
- excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- ability to understand and communicate verbal and written instructions
- problem-solving and mathematical skills
- working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9-CM coding helpful
- conversational Spanish preferred
Job Duties
- Answer and direct telephone calls
- schedule appointments
- process paperwork for daily clinic operations
- collect patient payments
- assist and direct all contacts
- provide excellent customer service
- enter, verify and maintain patient billing information
- maintain confidentiality
- provide Patient Information Forms for new or returning patients with updated demographics
- check patients in for appointments
- update and maintain accurate billing and insurance information
- verify patient insurance eligibility prior to appointments
- discuss insurance discrepancies with patients to resolve issues
- reconcile daily cash collections and credit card transactions
- balance money collected with posted payments
- assist patients with billing inquiries
- open and close clinic reception areas
- provide substitute coverage at all sites including holidays and extended hours
- uphold fiscal and accounting policies related to billing and collections
- perform general office duties such as filing, copying, and recordkeeping
- work collaboratively with Patient Accounts department to resolve account issues
