Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or educational equivalent
  • Two years of prior medical office experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively and courteously
  • Strong organizational and filing skills
  • Basic computer skills including typing
  • Ability to handle confidential patient information
  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently
  • Willingness to work Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Ability to handle cash and perform daily cash drawer balancing
  • Ability to follow instructions and departmental policies
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to handle crisis situations calmly
  • Commitment to continuing education and training

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Proficient in operating multi-line telephone systems

Job Duties

  • Provide excellent patient service by checking patients in timely and efficiently
  • Ensure new patients complete paperwork and provide relevant documents
  • Confirm demographic and insurance information for follow-up visits
  • Greet patients warmly and operate multi-line telephone system
  • Collect co-pays and manage daily cash drawer accounting
  • Assist with patient scheduling and rescheduling
  • Perform pre-registration and registration processes
  • Verify eligibility and investigate insurance benefits
  • Communicate professionally with patients and staff to resolve issues
  • Research insurance coverage and coordinate benefits
  • Attain referrals from third-party payors and document accordingly
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA policies
  • Enter patient data, referrals, and communications into information systems
  • Perform duties with minimal supervision and demonstrate initiative
  • Organize reception area and prepare for daily operations
  • Receive and distribute packages promptly
  • Act as backup for other patient access specialists when needed
