Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year work experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word
  • Familiarity with Cerner scheduling system
  • Ability to operate computer and telephone systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Job Qualifications

  • Prefer at least one year of work experience, ideally in a medical front office setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is desirable
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and general computer skills
  • Familiarity with medical front office procedures
  • Experience with Cerner computer scheduling system
  • Ability to use Windows-based software programs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in greeting patients and managing phone calls
  • Skilled in operating computers, photocopiers, and telephone systems

Job Duties

  • Greet patients and check them in for clinic appointments
  • Schedule return appointments as needed
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurances
  • Complete insurance authorization process and verify benefits
  • Ensure proper completion of patient paperwork and route charts to appropriate staff
  • Serve as liaison between patients and medical support staff
  • Operate multi-line phone system and maintain communication flow
