Job Requirements
- Must be a resident of South Carolina
- Must pass physical fitness test including walking two miles in 30 minutes carrying a 25 lb pack or meet agency fitness standards
- Must obtain firefighter registration with SC State Fire Marshal's office
- Must pass criminal background check
- Must pass drug and alcohol testing
- Valid Class D driver's license
- Must complete SCFC Basic Fire School within one year
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
- Availability for occasional overnight travel
- Availability for weekend and evening work
- Must maintain current Part 107 certification
- Subject to SCFC drug-free workplace policies and testing
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent program experience
- Current FAA Part 107 certification
- Knowledge of UAS operations and FAA regulations
- Ability to develop and maintain training materials
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and the public
- Fireline qualifications or willingness to obtain
Job Duties
- Coordinate SCFC UAS program design, implementation, and daily administrative activities
- Maintain standard operating procedures for UAS use
- Train and ensure proficiency of agency drone pilots
- Maintain and manage agency drone fleet and related equipment
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and agency policies
- Develop and present reports on agency UAS use and needs
- Represent SCFC at drone-related conferences and meetings
