Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • ability to lift and handle heavy baggage and cargo (up to 50 lbs or more)
  • valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) if required
  • strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and flight crews
  • ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain
  • flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and nights
  • basic mechanical aptitude for operating ground support equipment
  • ability to pass background checks and comply with airport security regulations
  • attention to detail and a commitment to safety protocols
  • previous experience in aviation or a similar field is preferred but not mandatory
  • fluently read, write, and speak the English language
  • this job is covered by a collective bargaining agreement of the Transport Workers Union (TWU), a labor union which requires joining the TWU and paying union dues

Job Duties

  • Marshall aircraft upon arrival and departure
  • load and unload cargo/baggage on and off aircraft
  • safely drive and operate ground support equipment including belt loaders, tugs, and baggage carts to pick-up and deliver cargo/bags between the terminal, warehouse and aircraft
  • sort and load baggage
  • perform ground service functions such as connecting/removing ground power and ground start units and water service
  • perform aircraft pushback, wing walking and related guide man functions
  • maintain a secure work environment
