The Ramp Service Employee (RSE) plays a critical role in the operations of a leading airline, a company renowned for its commitment to timeliness, safety, and outstanding customer service in the fast-paced world of air travel. This airline operates extensive airport facilities, ensuring smooth baggage, cargo, and aircraft processing to maintain its high standards of operational excellence. Job Requirements
- At least 18 years old
- Able to stand, walk, and handle baggage for an eight-hour shift
- Able to read, write and speak English fluently
- Ability to communicate with other departments and flight crews
- Must possess a valid state-issued driver’s license, with a good driving record
- Must be eligible to acquire and maintain credentials vital for the position
- Must pass a background check
- Must pass a pre-placement physical ability test, hearing and vision tests, and drug screen
- Position-specific clearances include but are not limited to FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal Service clearances
- Available during day and night shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Willingness to work mandatory overtime when necessary
- Able to perform physical activities including bending, stooping, climbing, and lifting up to 70lbs
- Ability to obtain required training certifications, perform safety checks, operate and drive equipment, load and unload baggage and cargo, interpret load sheets, baggage tags, and cargo labels
- Work outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Work in environments with exposure to high noise levels
- Must not have lived outside the United States in the past 3 years for any period longer than six months except for military duty or government-approved exceptions
- Successful completion of interview and assessment
- Reliable, punctual attendance
- Ability to meet uniform and appearance standards
- Must be willing and able to work 100% on-site
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Comfortable with computers, mobile devices, and new technologies
- Ability to communicate clearly in English
- Valid state-issued driver’s license with a good driving record
- Ability to obtain required training certifications and clearances
- Experience in a physical, fast-paced work environment preferred
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
Job Duties
- Process baggage, boxes, and cargo between baggage/cargo areas and aircraft
- Receive and dispatch aircraft
- Communicate with other departments and flight crews
- Operate and drive equipment related to baggage and cargo handling
- Perform safety checks and interpret load sheets, baggage tags, and cargo labels
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Maintain punctual and reliable attendance
