Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to lift and handle heavy baggage and cargo (up to 50 lbs or more)
  • Valid driver's license, must be maintained throughout employment in this role
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and flight crews
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and nights
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for operating ground support equipment
  • Ability to pass background checks and comply with airport security regulations
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to safety protocols
  • Fluently read, write, and speak the English language
  • This job is covered by a collective bargaining agreement of the Transport Workers Union (TWU), a labor union which requires joining the TWU and paying union dues

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Previous experience in aviation or ground handling operations preferred
  • Familiarity with aircraft types and airport layout preferred
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols in the airport environment preferred
  • Experience operating ground support equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and forklifts preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills for completing paperwork and using scheduling systems
  • Strong customer service orientation

Job Duties

  • Marshall aircraft upon arrival and departure
  • Load and unload cargo/baggage on and off aircraft
  • Safely drive and operate ground support equipment including belt loaders, tugs, and baggage carts
  • Sort and load baggage
  • Perform ground service functions such as connecting/removing ground power, ground start units, and water service
  • Perform aircraft pushback, wing walking, and related guide man functions
  • Maintain a secure work environment
