Job Requirements
- High school graduate
- previous aviation experience desired such as airline dispatcher, pilot, air traffic controller, or ramp handling experience
- subject to drug and alcohol testing per non-DOT policy including pre-employment, random, reasonable cause/suspicion, and post-accident testing

- ability to operate and troubleshoot communications and radar display equipment
- knowledge of airport ground movement procedures and regulations

Job Duties
- Make decisions involving the sequence and separation of gate traffic ready for pushback and engine start
- plan the sequence of arriving traffic using electronic aids prior to arrival at the airport
- merge arriving and pushback traffic to assure equitable treatment and minimum delays
- determine usability of and resolve problems with communications equipment, video camera displays, STARS radar display, ASDE-X radar display, and gate management computer programs
- instruct aircraft on push-back, taxi routes, intermediate hold points, and frequency transfer points
- initiate and respond to coordination with the FAA ATCT Ground Control Position regarding inbound and outbound aircraft movements
- execute procedures required of the local Surface Movement Guidance and Control System Plan during reduced visibility, the Ice Threat Management Plan during aircraft anti-icing periods, and the local Gate Hold program when initiated by the ATCT
- provide flight crews with field conditions, altimeter settings, weather conditions, navigational aid status, and NOTAMS
- report pilot-reported adverse weather, bird activity, and unsafe or unusual airport activities or conditions to the ATCT
- determine and notify emergency services of emergencies via Crash Phone
- perform lower grade level duties as necessary to meet operational requirements and proficiency maintenance
- provide on-the-job training to others
