Job Requirements
- Must be a resident of the State of New York
- must be a U.S. citizen or have current authorization to work in the U.S.
- no current or future work authorization sponsorship available
- must have no prior disqualifying interviews for the Ramp Agent position at BUF within the last 12 months
- must be able to lift and move 70 pounds regularly and repetitively lift 40 to 50 pounds
- must be able to climb, bend, kneel, crawl and stoop frequently
- must be able to work shift work including early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays
- must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- must meet all grooming and uniform standards
- must be able to obtain required airport security clearances and badges
- must be able to comply with attendance standards
- must successfully complete 4 to 6 weeks of training program
- must maintain well-groomed appearance per company standards
- must be able to comply with physical and safety requirements
Job Qualifications
- No formal education requirement
- ability to work well with others as part of a team
- ability to work under stressful situations
- ability to read documents, follow instructions, and understand ramp operations procedures, rules and regulations
- must be able to satisfactorily complete ramp agent training with a 90 percent or greater average
- possess a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license
- must be able to obtain a SIDA badge and meet local airport requirements
- may be required to obtain a customs seal for international flights
- ability to communicate information verbally and via radio equipment
- ability to comply with grooming standards
- must be at least 18 years of age
- authorization to work in the U.S.
Job Duties
- Provide friendly service to and maintain positive relationships with all internal and external customers
- work in a cooperative spirit to ensure the success of the company
- provide legendary customer service to people desiring to travel, use cargo or baggage services by servicing aircraft at ramps and terminals
- load, unload, service, guide, and direct company aircraft
- receive and record customer baggage, air freight, mail, and company materials as required
- handle all aspects of loading, stowing, and unloading baggage, cargo, airmail, air freight, ballast and company materials according to a predetermined plan
- submit cargo bin loading slips to operations agents
- pick up, deliver, and transport cargo and baggage to and from aircraft and prepare records
- warehouse, weigh, stack, pick up and deliver air cargo
- safeguard customers’ baggage, air cargo, air mail and company materials from weather, loss, theft, damage and/or destruction
- perform interior aircraft cabin cleaning including sweeping, upholstery cleaning, galley and lavatory servicing
- operate motorized ground support equipment such as belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, push back tugs, bag carts, lavatory carts and de-icers
- manually push and pull carts and containers
- work around terminals, hangars and airfreight facilities indoors and outdoors
- complete forms and paperwork associated with work assignments
- meet physical ability requirements and safety protocols
- comply with grooming standards and communicate effectively via radio equipment
- perform other duties as directed by leadership
