Job Requirements

  • Physical stamina and strength to lift, carry, push, pull, and move items up to 70 pounds regularly
  • Ability to carry heavy items up and down narrow jetway stairs
  • Capacity to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop frequently and for extended periods
  • Ability to work in cramped or high places
  • Must be alert to moving vehicles and aircraft and use radio equipment effectively
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and around loud machinery noises
  • Strong communication skills to interact professionally with flight crew, gate agents and ground crew
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Effective problem-solving and time management abilities.

Job Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
  • Have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Be authorized to work in the United States or Canada as applicable
  • Complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security
  • Secure a Customs Seal if required by customer or role access
  • Preferred one or more years of relevant experience.

Job Duties

  • Guide inbound/outbound airplanes to and from the gate
  • Transport, lift, load/unload, sort and transfer passenger baggage, cargo, and mail material in and out of aircraft bins, belt loader, or baggage carts in a safe manner
  • Safeguard customer baggage, air cargo, airmail from weather, loss, theft, damage and/or destruction
  • Clean aircraft passenger cabins between flights and stock aircraft with needed supplies
  • Operate heavy equipment such as pushback equipment and maintain visual contact with Wing Walkers to ensure the equipment is free of any danger
  • Operate and/or drive motorized equipment, such as belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, push back tugs, bag cart, lavatory cart, and deicers
  • Receive and record customer baggage, air freight, mail, and company materials as required
  • Pick up, deliver, and transport cargo and baggage to and from aircraft, including wheelchairs, strollers, live animals, and other vital property of passengers
  • Complete paperwork and forms connected with work assignments and enter data into company systems
  • Follow company procedures and protocols to ensure safe and responsible operations
  • Complete all training required by company, airport authorities, or customers
  • Work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
