Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in hotel purchasing
  • Proficiency with purchasing platforms
  • Knowledge of retail purchasing procedures
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to manage inventory and vendor relationships
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple departments
  • Ability to work in compliance with regulations and company policies
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Hotel purchasing experience required
  • Full knowledge of retail purchasing procedures
  • Ability to apply basic supervisory skills including planning, organizing, directing, coaching, training and disciplining associates
  • Proficient in purchasing platforms
  • Proficient in spreadsheet, report generation, market pricing structure and analytics
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to adapt communication style
  • Strong computer skills with experience using Windows-based programs and iBuyEffecient
  • Ability to coordinate multiple group efforts
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with awareness of deadlines
  • Ability to identify and recommend process improvements

Job Duties

  • Obtain bids and purchase high quality items for the best price for retail outlets as assigned
  • Consolidate and standardize purchasing of fast-moving goods across properties to maximize overall purchasing efficiency
  • Monitor the grades and quality of products received to ensure that they meet the hotel's established standards
  • Obtain bids from vendors according to specifications set by department heads and place orders
  • Schedule deliveries of items to meet operational needs
  • Maintain HEI Hotels and Resorts purchasing programs and arrangements
  • Ensure adherence to all corporate purchasing policies and procedures such as requisition process
  • Check and ensure appropriate inventory levels to minimize waste and maximize turnover
  • Manage day-to-day operations covering storage, ordering, compliance with regulations
  • Establish and maintain measurable performance metrics for procurement activities
  • Report on supplier performance and corrective actions
  • Develop performance improvement and recovery plans
  • Negotiate and execute purchase orders to support critical business needs
  • Manage product flow to maintain optimal inventory levels
  • Develop and implement product and supply chain strategies
  • Control costs through strategic sourcing, commodity negotiation, and supplier management
  • Drive usage of cost models with DFOB and Chef to validate commodity strategies
  • Develop and sustain vendor relationships, ensuring Avendra guidance and compliance
  • Create a purchasing guide for food, beverage, and dry goods
  • Support new menu projects with commodity cost models
  • Manage product savings initiatives aligned with profit plans
  • Ensure compliance with company training, systems, and regulations
  • Navigate procedural worksheets and maintain budget compliance through iBuyEffecient
  • Ensure compliance with Code of Conduct, uniform and grooming guidelines
  • Manage storeroom organization, cleanliness, and par levels
  • Attend designated meetings and ensure purchaser activities follow set standards and procedures
  • Ensure accurate invoice processing and equipment maintenance logs
