Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • six months of manual labor, construction, or maintenance related experience including paving work, concrete work, grouting, or hardscaping
  • valid Florida driver’s license
  • must have an acceptable background record
  • must have an acceptable driving record
  • able to perform moderate to heavy physical work
  • able to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • able to lift heavy objects up to 60 pounds
  • required to follow safety protocols and use protective equipment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • six months of manual labor, construction, or maintenance related experience including paving, concrete work, grouting, or hardscaping
  • valid Florida driver’s license
  • basic knowledge of street maintenance tasks and equipment
  • ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • ability to follow safety practices and use hand and power tools
  • ability to follow instructions and maintain professional relationships
  • preferred one year of related experience

Job Duties

  • Perform tasks related to the maintenance of city owned roads, facilities, beaches, and all areas within the rights-of-way as assigned
  • perform physical labor at construction/maintenance sites
  • operate hand and power tools including air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, and hoists
  • smooth and level surfaces of poured concrete such as walks, sidewalks, and curbs using hand tools
  • align and place forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters, patch voids, and cut expansion joints
  • patch broken or eroded pavement and repair guard rails and highway markers
  • mow or clear brush including sod laying, trimming, weeding, planting, watering, fertilizing, and sprinkler installation
  • collect trash and debris from city maintained properties
  • perform general cleaning and maintenance to keep equipment and tools operable
  • follow safety procedures and utilize safety equipment
  • communicate effectively and provide assistance
  • perform related work as required
