Job Requirements

High school graduate or GED
Minimum 1 year of experience in security, public safety, or customer service with emergent situation response
Ability to carry department-authorized firearm on duty
Must obtain Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) within two years
Must have valid FOID or CCW license
Valid driver's license
Ability to successfully pass background investigation, drug screen, physical, and psychological assessments
Certified in conducted energy weapon use
Stop the Bleed certification within one year
Must be physically fit to perform patrols and restrain individuals
Willingness to work varied shifts including nights and weekends
Must maintain annual firearms qualification
Ability to communicate effectively by radio and telephone
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Ability to handle stressful, emotionally charged situations calmly and professionally

Job Qualifications

High school graduate or GED
Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) within two years
Armed Guard License for North Carolina within one year if applicable
NIMS Compliance Certification
Valid Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card or Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license
Ability to obtain Firearm Control Card (FCC) within 90 days
Stop the Bleed Certification within one year
Valid driver’s license
Certified in Conducted Energy Weapon (e.g., TASER) within 90 days and ongoing
Completed Illinois 40-hour armed course with semi-automatic pistol endorsement for Illinois team members
Ability to carry department authorized firearm while on duty
Ability to pass background checks, drug screen, and psychological assessments
Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication
Ability to use computers for documentation

Job Duties

Provides security services with a customer-service approach, focusing on professionalism, fairness, and compassion
Inspires confidence in patients, visitors, and team members by presenting a professional, approachable, and service-oriented appearance and demeanor
Performs routine responsibilities during interior and exterior patrols to ensure safety and security, including inspections, audits, valuables management, and contraband searches
Prevents, responds to, and investigates workplace violence and service calls involving combative or threatening individuals
Serves as a primary resource for de-escalation, utilizing use of force when necessary such as conducted electrical weapons and handcuffing
Performs key responsibilities to plan, prevent, practice, and respond to emergencies such as lost infants, fire, and active threats
Investigates incidents on Advocate Health property and completes timely reports, liaises with law enforcement and provides security education to team members
