Job Requirements

High school diploma or GED
minimum one year experience in security, public safety, or customer service with emergent situation response experience
completed State of Illinois 40-hour armed course with semi-automatic pistol endorsement
willingness to carry department authorized firearm
ability to achieve passing scores on mandatory annual handgun qualification course
ability to defend self and others in physical confrontations
pass background investigation, drug screen, physical and psychological screenings
ability to communicate clearly via radio and telephone
physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs and perform patrol duties
ability to interact appropriately under difficult circumstances

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or GED
security officer healthcare certification (CHSO) obtained within two years of appointment
valid driver's license
firearm owners identification (FOID) card or concealed carry weapon (CCW) license
meet State of Illinois licensing requirements and ability to obtain Firearm Control Card (FCC)
certified in conducted energy weapon (Taser) use within 90 days of hire
ability to use computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel
demonstrated communication skills
ability to exercise mature judgment and sound reasoning
experience in assessing dangerous situations

Job Duties

Provides security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion
performs routine interior and exterior patrols to ensure safety and security
prevents, responds to, and investigates workplace violence
responds immediately to emergencies such as lost or abducted children, fire, and active threats
investigates incidents on Advocate Aurora property and completes reports
performs liaison rounding and delivers security awareness education
liaises with law enforcement and coordinates prisoner patient guards
maintains training standards including radio communications, verbal de-escalation, CPR, and use of conducted energy weapons
