Job Requirements
- High school graduate or GED
- Minimum 1 year of experience in security, public safety, or customer service with emergent situation response
- Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) from IAHSS obtained within 2 years
- Armed Guard License for North Carolina employees within 1 year
- NIMS Compliance Certification
- FOID Card or Concealed Carry Weapon License
- Meet Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation licensing and obtain Firearm Control Card within 90 days
- Stop the Bleed Certification within 1 year
- Valid driver's license
- Certification in Conducted Energy Weapon use within 90 days of hire
- Strong awareness of street drugs, gangs, and human trafficking
- Completion of State of Illinois Basic Security Officer course with weapon endorsement for Illinois staff
- Passing score on mandatory annual handgun qualification course
- Willingness and ability to carry department authorized firearm
- Successfully pass background investigation, drug screen, pre-placement physical and psychological screenings
- Physically capable for required duties including lifting up to 35 lbs and operating a firearm safely
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- Typically requires 1 year of experience in security, related public safety, or customer service area including handling emergent situations and risk assessment
- Ability to exercise mature judgment and sound reasoning while maintaining courteous and tactful demeanor in challenging situations
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Word, Excel, web navigation, and database entry
- Ability to remain calm under pressure supporting a safe, welcoming, and therapeutic environment
- Collaborative skills working with medical staff and law enforcement
- Willingness to carry a department authorized firearm while on duty
- Completion of State of Illinois 20-hour Basic Security Officer course with semi-automatic pistol endorsement (Illinois team members)
- Successful completion of background, drug screen, physical, and psychological assessments
- Demonstrated ability to assess dangerous situations quickly and take appropriate action
Job Duties
- Provide security services with a customer-service approach focusing on professionalism, fairness, and compassion
- Present a professional, approachable, and service-oriented appearance and demeanor while complying with and enforcing safety and security rules
- Perform routine interior and exterior patrols to ensure safety, identify vulnerabilities, conduct contraband searches, and manage patient valuables
- Respond to and investigate incidents including workplace violence and emergencies such as lost or abducted children, fire, and active threats
- Utilize de-escalation techniques and use of force such as conducted electrical weapons and handcuffing when necessary
- Liaise with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and monitor law enforcement prisoner patient guards
- Maintain current training standards in communications, hemorrhage control, CPR, clinical restraints, and conducted energy weapons
- Assist with exterior traffic, crowd, and parking control
- Employ interview and interrogation tactics to investigate incidents
- Conduct community-oriented patrols to enhance security awareness
