Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicle
  • Unarmed Guard License issued by NC Protective Services must be obtained within 1 year and maintained through training and competency assessments
  • Stop the Bleed Certification
  • Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) must be obtained within two years of appointment
  • Successful pass of background investigation, drug screen, pre-placement physical
  • Ability to defend self and others in physical confrontations if necessary
  • Ability to communicate via radio and telephone with clear diction
  • Meet all Department training standards including radio communications, verbal de-escalation, hemorrhage control, CPR, use of conducted energy weapon
  • Comply with and enforce all safety and security rules and regulations
  • Illinois team members must complete State of Illinois 20-hour Basic Security Officer course

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability in verbal and written communication
  • Ability to use computer applications for documentation
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing dangerous situations and taking appropriate action

Job Duties

  • Provides security services with a customer-service approach focusing on professionalism, fairness, and compassion
  • Inspires confidence in patients, visitors, and team members by presenting a professional, approachable, and service-oriented demeanor
  • Performs routine responsibilities during interior and exterior patrols including inspections to identify vulnerabilities, hazards, and fire conditions
  • Prevents, responds to, and investigates workplace violence and other incidents
  • Serves as a primary resource for de-escalation utilizing use of force when necessary
  • Performs key responsibilities to plan, prevent, practice, and respond to emergencies such as lost children, fire, and active threats
  • Investigates incidents on property and completes accurate reports
  • Liaises with federal, state, and local law enforcement and first responder agencies
  • Maintains training standards in communications, de-escalation, and emergency procedures
  • Assists with exterior traffic and crowd control
