Job Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Some college preferred
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of hands-on security experience
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in the security field
- Valid Florida Class D Security License
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to work flexible schedules including late nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays
- Clear police record and ability to qualify under state security guidelines

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Experience with cloud-based platforms such as OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams
- Knowledge of Honeywell Fire Alarm and Life Safety Systems
- Experience operating CCTV and video surveillance systems
- Familiarity with access control systems
- Understanding of emergency communication platforms
- Valid Florida Class D Security License
- Valid Driver’s License
Job Duties
- Directly manages full and part-time MBCC’s Public Safety Supervisors, indirectly supervises Public Safety Officers, third-party contracted security officers and event security contractors
- Maintains surveillance, post orders, security standards for MBCC and its campus, Collins Canal Park, The Venue and Rum Room
- Assists with the management, oversight and supervision of the MBCC’s Command Center
- Provides leadership, management, supervision, and direction to Public Safety Department employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
- Ensures all operational matters, incident reports, risk concerns, staffing issues, and security-related observations are communicated to the Director of Public Safety & Transportation in a timely manner
- Conducts shift briefings with staff and ensures correct staffing levels are maintained
- Manages checklists and accounts for all public safety equipment, supplies, vehicles, and products
- Coordinates MBCC and campus security with show management, contractors, exhibitors, and sub-contractors
- Establishes and oversees goals and objectives for the Public Safety Department
- Assists in responding to emergencies such as demonstrations, protests, fires, storms, and medical emergencies
- Reviews and completes incident reports
- Inspects fire detection, prevention, and suppression systems and corrects safety hazards
- Manages safety/security contracts
- Develops and maintains best practices, policies, SOPs, and incident procedures
- Conducts event-specific threat and risk assessments
- Collaborates on training, mentoring, and supervising Public Safety personnel
- Oversees department scheduling, timekeeping, and payroll approval
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Manages CCTV and access control system functionality
- Responds to investigations involving safety/security events
- Leads after-action reviews and ensures corrective actions
- Supports risk mitigation strategies including crowd management and hazard identification
- Coordinates emergency drills with local fire and police departments
- Participates in pre-conference meetings to ensure safety requirements
- Attends event site visits and walk-throughs
- Performs other duties as assigned
