Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in public safety dispatching preferred
  • ability to pass comprehensive background investigation
  • must complete California Personal History Statement form
  • willingness to undergo polygraph, psychological, and medical examination
  • strong commitment to public service
  • ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • residency within proximity to the City of Napa preferred

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • experience in public safety dispatching, preferably with law enforcement or fire service
  • possession of P.O.S.T. Dispatch Training Certificate preferred
  • ability to work effectively under pressure
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • strong interpersonal abilities to interact with diverse populations
  • proficiency with computer-aided dispatch and related technology
  • demonstrated adaptability and teamwork skills

Job Duties

  • answer 911 emergency calls promptly and professionally
  • dispatch appropriate emergency response personnel and resources
  • maintain accurate and detailed logs of incidents and communications
  • communicate effectively with multiple agencies and departments
  • manage stressful and fast-paced situations while maintaining composure
  • utilize computer-aided dispatch systems and other technology efficiently
  • participate in training and continuous development to stay current with procedures and protocols
