Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- U.S. citizenship required to access NCIC
- Less than 2 years of experience in public safety call taking, law enforcement, dispatching, or related fields
- Ability to complete TBI NCIC, TCIC, TIES certification and Basic Telecommunicators course within 6 months
- Must pass a 10-year background check including criminal history, credit, motor vehicle record
- Pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test required
- Ability to complete psychological examination
- Must be able to obtain and maintain TSA security badge
- Willingness to work assigned shifts (6 a.m.-2 p.m., 2 p.m.-10 p.m., 10 p.m.-6 a.m.)
- Must maintain clear criminal and motor vehicle records
- Ability to learn emergency codes
- Strong skills in workload management, receiving directions, record maintenance, facilities access control, computer use, public relations, and stress tolerance
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- U.S. citizenship required to access NCIC
- Less than 2 years of public safety call taking, law enforcement, dispatching, or related experience
- Associate's degree in a related field preferred
- 2-4 years of public safety administration or telecommunication experience preferred
- Typing speed of 35-45 WPM preferred
Job Duties
- Monitors all radio traffic
- Uses electronic equipment including NCIC and Metro Automated Records Management System (ARMS) to determine vehicle registration, criminal history, warrants, stolen property, gun files, and emergency notifications
- Dispatches personnel to investigate complaints, security infractions, and reported emergency and medical situations
- Obtains complete, accurate, and appropriate information from calling parties regarding emergency and non-emergency situations and uses this to write call summaries
- Assists with on-the-job training for new employees
- Monitors fire alarm panel, security infractions, severe weather, fuel issues, access control system, and other emergency/non-emergency systems
- Evaluates and properly classifies initial calls/requests for assistance and notifies pertinent personnel
- Maintains communication throughout emergency situations including with field units, callers, local emergency and law enforcement departments, airport personnel, and Air Traffic Control tower
- Gives assignments and directions to staff and emergency personnel following established procedures
- Dispatches Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) units to accident scenes or aircraft emergencies and saves video footage
- Uses CCTV, PA system, TDD system, and instant replay devices
- Maintains a daily log of incidents via Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) software
- Keeps abreast of policy, methods, operations, and equipment changes
- Disseminates information via Automated Emergency Notification System
- Activates emergency recall plans
- Disseminates severe weather information to airport tenants
- Informs appropriate personnel of airport/airfield maintenance problems and conditions
- Summarizes information for broadcasting
- Utilizes the badging system after hours

- Maintains regular attendance and follows safety regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned
