Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • one year housekeeping experience in an upscale hotel or two years general cleaning experience
  • able to walk or stand continuously for up to 9 hours
  • able to reach, bend, lift, stoop or wipe for long periods
  • able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • able to communicate clearly with managers and other associates
  • able to comprehend English language
  • able to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
  • able to work 50 to 60 hours per week
  • good physical condition
  • able to work in a fast paced environment
  • able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • self-motivation and can work with little supervision
  • positive attitude and outgoing personality

Job Duties

  • Sweeps carpets
  • polishes furniture and fixtures
  • vacuums and polishes elevators
  • keeps the front of the hotel free from trash
  • cleans rugs, carpets and upholstered furniture using a vacuum cleaner and/or broom
  • washes walls
  • dusts and polishes metal work
  • maintains time schedule for cleaning of their areas
  • responsible for spring cleaning of their area as per the schedule
  • responsible for keeping hotel perimeter, hallways and stairways clean
  • other duties as assigned
