Job Description
This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position within the United States Air Force Reserve, a key component of the Department of Defense that supports national security and military readiness. Job Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required
- Must be a current member of the Air Force Reserve or willing and qualified to join
- A security clearance may be required
- Male applicants must be registered for Selective Service
- Position subject to the DoD Priority Placement Program
- Position may require random drug testing
- Ability and willingness to work outside normal duty hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must maintain current certifications
- Shift work and emergency overtime may be required
- Completion of probationary or trial period
- Must meet Air Force Reserve military membership and fitness standards
- Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance
Job Qualifications
- One year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level or equivalent in Public Affairs discipline
- Knowledge of and skill in applying communication principles and techniques
- Skill in gathering, evaluating, and interpreting complex data for public affairs
- Ability to plan, develop news stories, and design communication materials
- Ability to present clear, concise information to diverse audiences
- Experience developing and maintaining effective relationships with Air Force Reserve and Department of Defense counterparts
- Knowledge of evaluating news significance
- Specialized experience or graduate education related to Public Affairs
- Must meet time-in-grade requirements for GS-11 positions
Job Duties
- Coordinates the planning and development of complex public affairs assignments in support of commander’s programs and priorities
- Provides technical guidance and policy interpretation to military and civilian managers on internal information, media relations, community relations, and administrative functions
- Accomplishes work for the wing media relations program
- Performs duties for the internal information program and executes the Employer Support Program
- Establishes an interchange of ideas among wing personnel, community representatives, social and civic groups concerning issues impacting wing activities
