Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior customer service experience preferred but not required
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and pushing carts
- Strong communication skills
- Willingness to adhere to Food Lion policies and dress code
- Ability to handle cash and operate point of sale technology
- Must meet minimum age requirements
- Ability to work flexible shifts
- Ability to maintain a clean and professional appearance
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Smile and provide prompt, accurate and friendly service while engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience
- Greet each customer and use his or her name whenever possible
- Unload customers' groceries from cart to belt and group items for ease of bagging such as grouping cold items together
- Check the bottom of every cart and under all baby seats for items before completing an order
- Follow correct bagging procedures for the correct use of bags by type
- Scan customers' orders and handle payment transactions per standard practice
- Avoid personal conversations with other associates when customers are present
- Follow procedures in handling cash, checks, coupons, gift cards, partner cards, food stamps and WIC vouchers
- Follow procedures for refunds and error correction
- Maintain accurate cash control
- Perform overrides as needed
- Identify customers needing assistance and offer to take their orders to their cars
- Maintain alertness and call for assistance when needed to service customers
- Check prices quickly and accurately
- Be courteous and helpful to other associates
- Wear the Food Lion uniform with apron and name badge, keeping a neat and clean appearance
- Retrieve shopping carts from parking lot and cart corrals
- Ensure workstation and front end area are neat and clean
- Report register malfunctions to management
- Ensure MVP savings center kiosk is stocked and operational
- Adhere to all company guidelines, policies, and standard practices
- Observe and correct unsafe conditions
- Notify QA of cleaning or maintenance issues
- Complete computer based training and training aid courses
- Perform all other duties as assigned
