Job Requirements
- Ability to use computers and communication systems
- Perform repetitive hand and arm motions
- Bend and lift products up to 15 lbs continuously, 25 lbs frequently, 50 lbs occasionally
- Pull or push up to 75 lbs occasionally
- Stand 100% of the time
- Frequent walking short distances
- Handle substances like cleaning and packaging materials, fresh produce, flowers, and household cleaners
- Use hands frequently to handle currency and operate equipment such as cash register, lottery machine, scanner, computer, and calculator
- Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level, occasionally above shoulder or below waist
- Meet established volume activity standards
- Tolerate working in extreme hot/cold temperatures up to 20 minutes
- Sufficient visual ability to check IDs, checks, invoices, and documents
- Move empty bottles and containers from front end to back room where applicable
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- Effective communication and customer service skills
- Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements
- Ability to perform technical requirements of cashier and service center
- Must meet minimum age requirements for specific job functions
- Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position with or without accommodations
Job Duties
- Smile and provide prompt, accurate and friendly service
- Greet each customer and use their name when possible
- Unload customers' groceries from cart to belt
- Check the bottom of every cart and under all baby seats for items before completing an order
- Follow correct bagging procedures using appropriate bags
- Scan customers' orders and handle payment transactions
- Avoid personal conversations with other associates when customers are present
- Follow procedures in handling cash, checks, coupons, gift cards, partner cards, food stamps, and WIC vouchers
- Follow procedures for refunds and error corrections
- Maintain accurate cash control
- Perform overrides according to procedures
- Identify customers needing assistance and offer to take orders to their cars
- Maintain alertness and call for assistance when needed
- Check prices quickly and accurately
- Be courteous and helpful to other associates
- Wear Food Lion uniform and name badge adhering to dress code
- Retrieve shopping carts using tether strap
- Ensure neat and clean workstation and front end area
- Report register malfunctions to management
- Ensure MVP savings center kiosk is stocked and working
- Adhere to company guidelines, policies, and standards
- Observe and correct unsafe conditions
- Notify QA of cleaning or maintenance needs
- Complete computer-based training and training courses
- Perform all other duties as assigned
