The hiring establishment is a college campus that requires a dedicated Parking Enforcement Officer to provide oversight and management of campus parking lots and decks. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in parking enforcement, security, or related field
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and difficult individuals
  • Basic knowledge of parking enforcement equipment
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proficiency in using two-way radios and cell phones
  • Ability to handle difficult or irate individuals calmly and professionally
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills
  • Basic mechanical skills for simple vehicle maintenance
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license

Job Duties

  • Provide presence in all parking lots and decks on campus for safety and security
  • Provide security in all lots and decks in conjunction with NHCSO and/or security contractor
  • Walk students to their vehicles upon request
  • Patrol an assigned area by vehicle or on foot to ensure public compliance with existing College parking regulations
  • Patrol properties to maintain safety
  • Maintain close communications with Director, Safety & Training, NHCSO and/or security contractor, using two-way radios or cell phones
  • Relay information about suspicious activity, incidents, or emergencies to personnel using phones or two-way radios
  • Identify violations of parking, and determine writing violations or warnings in accordance with the College Parking Regulations
  • Identify persistent violators of the College parking regulations, checking with Director, Safety & Training and/or Business Office personnel when necessary to confirm identities or to determine whether vehicles need to be booted or towed
  • Locate suspicious objects or vehicles
  • Communicate situation details to appropriate personnel
  • Respond to various calls of service including assisting motorists, escorting students/employees, or other complaints related to areas of responsibility
  • Interact intensively with the public, receive, listen to and skillfully handle parking disturbance and/or other complaints, educate the public regarding parking and general matters necessary
  • Provide customer service information to the public regarding parking regulations and facilities, and the location of streets, buildings and points of interest
  • Inform the public about policies, services or procedures
  • Review and evaluate validity of contested citations within the scope of responsibility and authority
  • Service and maintain parking enforcement equipment and vehicles
  • Ability to interpret, apply and explain and enforce parking regulations
  • Exercise sound judgment within established guidelines and supervisory direction
  • Analyze situations and determine appropriate course of action
  • Maintain effective working relationships with staff and public
  • Perform simple vehicle maintenance procedures such as checking oil and gas, and report mechanical problems to supervisor
  • Perform traffic control duties such as setting up barricades and temporary signs, placing cones, etc.
  • Block physical access to restricted areas
  • Assist NHCSO in directing vehicle traffic on CFCC property, as needed
  • Provide assistance to motorists needing help with problems such as flat tires and dead batteries
  • Remove handbills within patrol areas
  • Work with and assist NHCSO, security personnel, and fellow parking guards as needed
  • Provide assistance with functionality of parking deck operations including gate control, count management, lane direction, etc.
  • Be professional and courteous in all situations
  • Maintain proper uniform appearance at all times
