Job Requirements

  • One year of experience in general or manual labor
  • Willingness and ability to perform manual labor in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work regular and irregular shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Completion of pre-employment screenings including criminal history background check and physical/drug screening as applicable
  • Valid Arkansas driver’s license if required for job duties
  • Ability to safely operate equipment and tools
  • Ability to follow safety protocols
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality

Job Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience in general labor or manual labor
  • Experience with equipment operations related to street and drainage repair is preferred
  • Ability to perform manual labor in all weather conditions
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and work effectively as part of a team
  • Capability to operate hand and power tools
  • Valid Arkansas driver’s license may be required
  • Physical stamina to perform strenuous tasks
  • Good communication skills for safety signaling and public interaction

Job Duties

  • Empties contents of trash containers and lifts disposable containers into sanitation truck
  • Operates packer mechanism to compact collected refuse
  • Operates dumping mechanism to remove refuse at City Landfill
  • Washes and cleans sanitation truck on assigned day
  • Provides directions to truck drivers for safe backing to dumping areas
  • Notifies driver of equipment malfunctions
  • Informs new employees on safety precautions
  • Notifies public of prohibited refuse materials
  • Operates hand and power tools to cut grass and brush from ditches and street right-of-way
  • Digs materials from street areas and removes debris from catch basins and ditches
  • Loads materials onto trucks
  • Spreads asphalt binder on repair areas
  • Shovels and levels asphalt
  • Compresses asphalt with power tools
  • Mixes, pours, and finishes concrete
  • Builds forms for pouring concrete
  • Lifts and carries riprap and other materials to support ditch walls
  • Loads and empties sacks of salt for ice or snow removal
  • Operates jackhammer and compressor for material removal in repair areas
