Job Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods
- frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 25-40 pounds
- ability to use step stools to reach high surfaces
- capability to perform repetitive motion tasks like sweeping and mopping
- use of hands and arms to operate cleaning equipment and tools
- comfortable working in various environments including dorms, offices, restrooms, and outdoor walkways
- ability to work in both hot and cold conditions
- willingness to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- prior custodial or janitorial experience helpful
- ability to operate cleaning equipment safely
- familiarity with safety and sanitation protocols
- strong attention to detail
- physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks
- good communication skills
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
Job Duties
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, residence halls, lounges, and common areas
- sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors, carpets, and surfaces
- empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners
- refill supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper
- clean windows, mirrors, glass doors, and other surfaces
- report maintenance issues to appropriate personnel
- perform deep cleaning during academic breaks or as scheduled
- maintain cleanliness in dining areas and event spaces before and after functions
- follow all safety and sanitation guidelines
- secure buildings and rooms after cleaning, as necessary
- assist with moving furniture or setting up spaces for events, meetings, or campus activities
- support special projects such as summer turnover cleaning in residence halls
