Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in relevant discipline
- minimum two years of professional experience or equivalent
- evidence of ability to manage diverse classrooms
- proven skills in culinary arts and food services
- relevant certifications such as Culinary Federation working Chef certification and membership in culinary trade organizations
- completed lower division general education credits
- hands-on industry experience in commercial or industrial kitchens
- availability to teach flexible schedules including evening, weekend, online, and off-campus
- ability to collaborate and participate in committee work and curriculum development

Job Qualifications
- Any Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in the discipline
- Any Associate degree and six years of experience in the discipline
- The equivalent
- Evidence of a sensitivity, understanding, and ability to manage the classroom environment and effectively provide instruction to community college students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
- Minimum of 18 units of completed lower division General Education credits in 3 out of 4 General Education requirement areas (Language and Rationality
- Natural Science
- Humanities
- and Social Sciences)
- Culinary Arts/Food Services related certification such as certification as a working Chef by any Culinary Federation and membership in at least one Culinary Trade Organization
- Minimum of eight years full-time food services occupational experience in the Food Services Industry (such as pastry, cold kitchen, banquets and/or gourmet foods) or minimum of twelve units of completed Culinary Arts classes and six years of food service occupational experience
- Evidence of recent community college teaching in Culinary Arts
- Minimum seven years full-time, hands-on experience in commercial/industrial kitchens (restaurants) in several different positions in the Escoffier Kitchen Brigade (e.g., Chef de Partie, Sous Chef de Cuisine, Chef de Cuisine, Executive Sous Chef, and Executive Chef), as well as experience in Baking and Pastry
