Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Good knowledge of the city of El Paso
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to tactfully handle irate tourists and residents
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public
- Must be able to work holidays and weekends
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be able to lift more than 30 lbs and sit for long periods
- Ability to work under adverse indoor and outdoor conditions and in loud environments
- Flexibility to adjust to situational changes
- Ability to use office equipment including computers, multi-line phone systems, and tablets
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge of El Paso city and attractions
- Customer service skills
- Ability to handle difficult situations tactfully
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use multi-line phone systems and office equipment including computers and tablets
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet usage
- Familiarity with Apple products
- Ability to work weekends, holidays and flexible hours
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift 30 lbs or more
- Spanish language skills preferred but not required
Job Duties
- Provide customer service and visitor information to visitor and residents at various locations including downtown, El Paso International Airport, and mobile visitor centers at offsite events
- Participate in general visitor information center functions including creating itineraries, providing driving and walking directions, and sharing information on upcoming events
- Keep brochure racks stocked and order brochures as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized visitor information center
- Sell postcards and other retail promotional items
- Answer and appropriately route incoming telephone calls
- Record detailed messages from callers and visitors
- Work holidays and weekends
- Act as handler for Amigo Man, city mascot
- Act as a docent for public tours
- Work various locations including offsite events
- Provide directional information at El Paso International Airport Visitor Center
- Provide docent services for scheduled tours of downtown El Paso or other attractions
- Assist administration during meetings, conventions, and events
- Promote events, programs, and social media channels for Destination El Paso
- Aid in planning and execution of Visit El Paso events
- Track and record phone call, FaceTime, and walk-in interactions
- Perform other assigned duties
