Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Must have good knowledge of the city of El Paso
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to tactfully handle irate tourists and residents
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Must be able to work holidays and weekends
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Ability to lift more than 30 pounds
- Must be able to sit for long periods
- Ability to work in loud and crowded environments
- Must work under adverse weather conditions and irregular hours
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Good knowledge of the city of El Paso and its attractions
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to handle irate tourists and residents tactfully
- Experience with multitasking and problem solving
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet use
- Familiarity with Apple products such as iPads
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift more than 30 pounds
- Ability to work holidays and weekends
- Spanish language skills preferred but not required
Job Duties
- Provide customer service and visitor information at various locations including downtown, El Paso International Airport, and offsite events
- Participate in visitor center functions such as creating itineraries, providing directions, and sharing event information
- Maintain brochure racks and order brochures as needed
- Keep visitor information centers clean and organized
- Sell promotional items like postcards
- Answer and route incoming telephone calls
- Record detailed messages from callers and visitors
- Work holidays and weekends as required
- Act as handler for the city mascot Amigo Man
- Serve as a docent for public and prescheduled tours
- Work at various locations including offsite events
- Promote events, programs, and social media channels
- Aid in planning and execution of Visit El Paso events
- Track and record phone, FaceTime, and walk-in interactions
- Assist administration during meetings, conventions, and events
- Perform other duties as assigned
