Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous kitchen or food preparation experience preferred
  • Ability to follow recipe and production instructions accurately
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 100 lbs
  • Availability to work Saturdays
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Willingness to comply with company attendance policies

Job Qualifications

  • Hotel experience preferred
  • Finger or hand dexterity to operate food machinery with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to grasp, lift, carry or move goods weighing up to 100 lbs on a continuous schedule with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt communication style for different audiences such as supervisors, coworkers, and the public

Job Duties

  • Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards per check from servers
  • Start food items that are prepared ahead of time without over-preparing estimated needs
  • Date all food containers and rotate as per HEI Hotels and Resorts standards ensuring perishables are kept at proper temperatures
  • Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull, and line set up
  • Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages and assist in keeping buffet stocked
  • Return all unused food items to designated storage areas, covering and dating perishables
  • Assist in setting up plans to correct food cost problems and control food waste, loss, and usage
  • Operate, maintain, and clean kitchen equipment including deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron, and flat top grill
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
