Job Requirements
- minimum age 21
- degree in culinary arts, nutrition, home economics (preferred)
- 2+ years of experience related to food and cooking or experience in sales, product demonstrations, or cooking in a professional environment
- completion of or ability to complete H-E-B Wine selling certification or similar experience
- completion of or ability to complete TABC certification
- ability to stand constantly, reach at waist, and grasp
- ability to occasionally sit, walk, reach overhead, reach at shoulder, reach at knee, reach at floor, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, stair climb, ladder climb, pivot, twist, push/pull with arms, pinch, and perform fine motor movements
- occasionally be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, loud noise, wet conditions
- demonstrate ability to lift 60 lbs and manage more than 60 lbs (with proper safety measures)
Job Qualifications

- passion for food
- experience in sales, product demonstrations, or professional cooking environment
- ability to complete H-E-B Wine selling certification or similar
- ability to complete TABC certification
- comprehensive knowledge of displayed products
- knowledge of or aptitude to learn H-E-B systems and processes
- advanced communication skills
- strong customer service skills
- merchandising skills
- skills in basic cooking techniques (grill, saut, roast, fry, etc.)
- ability to read and interpret documents
- ability to manage multiple priorities
- willingness to work flexible hours
Job Duties
- perform selling activation events in the Cooking Connection kitchen
- assist in developing appropriate recipes targeted to the local customer base
- engage customers by creating food experiences through knowledge of ingredients, beverage recommendations, and cooking techniques
- connect with customers following the customer service and hospitality model to build loyalty
- create themed recipes and participate in store events
- offer advice for menu and meal planning
- conduct cooking method and recipe preparation demonstrations
- provide culinary conversations on the microphone to attract customers
- serve as the expert in daily recipes and answer culinary questions
- suggest beverage pairings
- develop and maintain customer relationships
- contribute culinary and customer insights to cooking events
- assist in cooking classes, wine education, and dinner series
- ensure A+ merchandising standards at the Connections kitchen
- assist in building and maintaining merchandising displays
- update customer signage for daily menu and sampling hours
- ensure backstock is worked
- support food production for retail sale
- ensure compliance with food safety regulations
- complete all required food safety trainings
- maintain a clean and safe work environment
- clean and sanitize the kitchen and equipment
- operate under 5-S guidelines
- prep products for demonstrations using mise-en-place
- use proper personal protection equipment
