Job Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Registration or certification with Board of Pharmacy as required by law
  • 2+ years of pharmacy technician experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain HIPAA patient confidentiality
  • Computer proficiency
  • Ability to use discretion and independent judgment
  • Customer service experience

Job Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Registered or certified pharmacy technician as required by law
  • Pharmacy technician certification preferred
  • Equivalent program from a two-year college or technical school, or certificate program in pharmacy and/or healthcare field preferred
  • 2+ years of pharmacy technician experience required
  • Retail pharmacy experience preferred
  • Customer service skills required
  • Familiarity with general pharmacy terminology, billing quantity, SIG codes, brand and generic medication names preferred
  • Proficient in data entry, verbal communication, and computer skills
  • Ability to learn department’s software system

Job Duties

  • Receive and coordinate all program referrals including savings card activations, insurance verification, test claims, prescription billing and billing error resolution, prior authorization assistance, customer service
  • Serve as primary contact for receiving phone calls from patients and physicians
  • Identify and forward phone calls that are clinical in nature to staff pharmacists
  • Document and make notations in each patient’s profile regarding all updates and aspects of patient care or physician needs
  • Maintain HIPAA patient confidentiality
  • Use discretion and independent judgment in handling customer complaints, documenting and forwarding to appropriate team members
  • Ensure all prescriptions are billed in accordance with Medicare, DMEPOS, federal, state, and local regulations and laws
  • Communicate with department supervisor and/or program director on noteworthy program updates or obstacles
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication, computer, data entry, software proficiency, interpersonal and relationship-building skills, self-discipline, and attention to detail
