Job Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. citizen
  • You must meet specialized experience to qualify
  • Required documents must be submitted by the closing date

  • Ability to complete a 1-year probationary period
  • May require travel up to 25 to 30 percent
  • Must meet time-in-grade requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Experience utilizing methods and techniques to conduct analytical studies and projects related to transit safety-oriented programs
  • Experience interpreting, drafting, reviewing, and editing transit safety guidance or regulations
  • Experience communicating information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience leading and presenting information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience overseeing and leading work, summarizing and reporting team progress and project status, and mentoring other team members and staff
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing on technical and non-technical subjects
  • Proficient in safety technical analysis and transit safety compliance knowledge

Job Duties

  • Serve as liaison between Regional Offices and TSO Headquarters as part of the Safety Management Process by providing advice on identifying, reviewing, and escalating safety issues
  • Provide communication and liaison support between Regional Offices and TSO
  • Support recipients and regions in safety grant applications, project implementation, inspection, oversight, and coordination activities
  • Communicate safety and compliance information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Travel 25 to 30 percent for safety and oversight activities
  • Lead and oversee team efforts related to transit safety compliance projects
  • Mentor other staff and report on team progress and project status
