Job Requirements
- Experience working a commercial kitchen
- Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures for operating a commercial kitchen
- Ability to comply with health department sanitation guidelines
- Proficiency in back-office administrative functions including recordkeeping reporting scheduling and document management
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite Excel Word Outlook and other Microsoft 365 applications
- Knowledge in managing staffing and a departmental budget
- Prior familiarity with people experiencing homelessness substance use mental health issues and chemical dependency issues
- Experience with harm reduction and crisis intervention techniques a plus
- Licensed and insured to drive in the state of Kentucky
- Must obtain a Food Manager Certificate within 1 month of employment
- Must get Hepatitis A vaccination
- Submit to TB test annually
- Successfully pass any required pre-employment background and drug screening
- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle insurance required
Job Qualifications
- Previous restaurant management experience or culinary education a plus
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related position or setting preferred
- Must obtain a Food Manager Certificate within 1 month of employment
- Commitment to the mission and goals of St Vincent de Paul Louisville
- Licensed and insured to drive in the state of Kentucky
- Demonstrated leadership problem-solving and project management skills
- Excellent organizational written and oral skills
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with SVDP staff clients donors volunteers and other guests
Job Duties
- Oversee and manage kitchen staff including supervision scheduling and completion of required documentation
- Manage the planning and preparation of daily meals in collaboration with kitchen staff
- Manage the weekly ordering and pickup of donated items from Dare to Care
- Manage monthly kitchen supply orders in coordination with cooks
- Manage all kitchen maintenance needs through SVDP’s maintenance team and external vendors
- Ensure the kitchen remains in compliance with all relevant policies procedures protocols and health and safety regulations
- Manage monthly reporting for number meals served USDA inventory temperature logs volunteers supplies ordered and donations received
- Attend any required training and adhere to standards to maintain sanitation requirements and cleanliness of the OHK ensure food is fresh prepared to standards handled and stored correctly label and date all prepared foods
- Partner with the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator on regular volunteer opportunities and holiday meals
- Cultivate nurture and maintain positive relationships with kitchen volunteers
- Collaborate with the Development team to secure in-kind food donations and community partnerships to support OHK operations
- Other duties as assigned
